Nikon Nikkor Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S II

Switching from the earlier version, this one’s noticeably lighter on the camera and the autofocus grabs birds in flight instantly. The extra sharpness wide open at f2.8 really shows in the feather detail.

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and the autofocus speed on moving subjects like wildlife is noticeably snappier than my old lens. The texture of the focus ring feels precise and satisfying to turn.

The weight reduction is immediately noticeable when shooting handheld all day, and the autofocus locks onto subjects noticeably faster than my older version. Sharpness wide open is a real step up, and the VR lets me nail sharp shots at slower shutter speeds than I expected.
