Canon Stereo-Richtmikrofon DM-E1D

The digital connection to the shoe makes audio levels rock-solid—no hiss creeping in like my old analog mic. Set it to stereo for an interview and the directionality was spot-on.

No extra cables to mess with since it draws audio straight through the multifunction shoe. The stereo separation on interviews actually surprised me, voices sit clearly left and right instead of sounding flat and centered.

Plugged it straight into the hot shoe and it worked instantly, no cables or batteries to mess with. The stereo separation on interviews is much cleaner than the built-in mic ever managed, and the digital connection means zero hiss in the background.
